Don’t Toss It – Compost It: City of Meridian’s real Christmas Tree Recycling runs January 5 - 9

MERIDIAN, ID – The City of Meridian, in partnership with Republic Services, offers convenient ways to compost real Christmas trees.

“We are excited to bring back this seasonal composting option for Meridian residents,” said Sayard Schultz, Solid Waste Coordinator. “Having a convenient way to compost Christmas trees helps keep our community vibrant and sustainable.”

What: Real Christmas Trees. Please remove all decorations and flocking and cut any tree larger than 6 feet into 4-foot sections.

Curbside Collection Dates: January 5 – 9

Drop-off Collection Dates:

  • Meridian Transfer Station (2130 W Franklin Rd.) from December 26 - January 17
  • Ada County Landfill (10300 N Seamans Gulch Rd., Boise) from December 26 - January 10

Leaf-specific trucks will collect properly placed leaf bags as late as 7:00 p.m. Residents are asked to leave their bags at the curb and remain patient as drivers work their way through Meridian.

For more information, visit the City’s Christmas Tree Composting webpage.

“This Christmas season, we are happy to help divert trees from the landfill and give them a second chance as composted soil amendment,” said Rachele Klein of Republic Services.

More information about the City’s solid waste programs and events can be found on the Trash and Recycling webpage.
